Onigiri Zine

The OniGiri Zine was based on the traditional Japanese Snack combining sticky rice, seafood, and wrapped in seaweed. Integrating Japanese culture, showcasing the Japanese craftmanship, patience, and attention to detail was essential in the creation of this Zine. Photographing every step in order to display the information in a digestible way.

This zine was meant to be read by anyone who picked it up and wanted to cook something simple yet satisfying. OniGiri has traditionally been prepared by hand and this is carefully shown in its beautiful presentation.

As we prepared this dish, I documented the process with photographs and compiled them into a zine that provides step-by-step guidance on making Onigiri. The color-coded pages enable readers to easily navigate to specific sections based on their progress, enhancing efficiency in the cooking process.

My approach to this project emphasized the value of a hands-on experience. Preparing this dish primarily by hand fosters a deeper connection with the food, infusing it with a sense of care and affection that is essential to creating truly great meals.
